Where do we begin? Here, together: even at conception we found form through others. And relationship has been on my mind since the start. Puberty presented “God’s gift” of orgasm. Adolescence bore the desire to find a soulmate. Young adulthood propelled exploration between sex and love, freedom and commitment, flesh and spirit. Midlife moved retrospection on what fruit these efforts produced, and why. Whether we’ve excelled, or our endeavors have escaped us, the bloom’s inseparable from the seed: all our efforts bring us back to ourselves, in relation to others. And I feel my life’s richest rewards have come through human interchanges, that ignite the intimate potency of genuine experience and appreciation, and that connect us through whatever imperfect state in which we happen to find ourselves together.
